Oil on stretched canvas · 30 x 40 cm
I was standing on Southsea pier when I saw this moment. The sky broke open in orange and gold, the light spilling across the water all the way to the shore. I painted it from memory and feeling — the way the clouds moved, the silhouette of the buildings against that burning horizon.
Some sunsets you have to stop for. This was one of them.
